Voters in Ohio's 7th Congressional District are being bombarded by almost half a million dollars in TV commercials, paid for by the Data Center industry, trying to defeat frontrunner Ed FitzGerald in the May 5th Democratic Primary.

The commercials are paid for by something called the "Jobs and Democracy PAC", which is a political action committee funded by Anthropic, and AI company. The ads urge Democratic voters to vote for Brian Poindexter, another candidate in the primary.

FitzGerald condemned the ads as "exactly what's wrong with our politics today" and promptly released a video demanding that the ads be taken down:

FitzGerald's video blasted data centers for interfering in the Democratic Primary.

In the video, FitzGerald called on all Democratic candidates to condemn this corporate money interference and to demand that their ads be taken down immediately.

This is the third time that dark money PACs have tried to stop FitzGerald from winning the primary. A PAC called BDA PAC, funded in part by pharmaceutical companies, has spent at least $150,000 on behalf of Brian Poindexter. And yet another corporate PAC, controlled by Republican incumbent Congressman Max Miller, has spent another $100,000 warning Democrats not to vote for FitzGerald in the primary.

With the May 5th Primary fast approaching, it remains to be seen where the power lies- in the hands of the voters, or with the data center industry and other corporate interests.
